Academic Credit

Earn academic credit at your home institution

Most CWS courses can be taken for graduate level or advanced undergraduate level credit at your current college or university. Students must pass a final assessment (typically a project or exam) to earn academic credit (either a letter grade or pass/fail). These assessments will be different depending on the course. Information about final assessments will be included in the course syllabus.

Steps to acquire credit from your college or university:

  1. Reach out to your advisor/committee chair for approval to take a Directed/Independent Study, Special Topic course, etc.

  2. Once approved by your institution, register for the course on the CWS website. You must select the PREMIUM format to receive academic credit.

  3. When you are entering your registration information at checkout, you will be asked: Why are you taking the PREMIUM version of this course? Please check the box: β€œI am taking this course for academic credit at my school.”

  4. Please confirm with your CWS instructor that you are taking the course for academic credit. At that time, please provide your instructor the paperwork and/or contact necessary to submit your grade.
